Brother – a History

Before the boys from Slough were donned as the splendid Viva Brother they were simply called Brother. But why the name change? So many bands before them have been privy to one word names and it could be argued that many of these are the Worlds finest… Beatles and Oasis amongst them.

So why the need to ‘rebrand’ and rise like a Phoenix from the flames as Viva Brother, scattering the ashes of their pre-amble ‘Brother’ in their wake? Did they have devine intervention in a dream like state that their current incantation wouldn’t cut it and they need to change their mantle to the more ‘exotic’ Viva Brother?

Well, all became clear in an email to their fans at the end of June, where the boys comically stated:

“A long time ago in a galaxy far far away three men decided one day that it would be a good idea to start a band called Brother. Many, many years later four frighteningly handsome devils in the desolate, post apocalyptic wasteland of Slough decided to do the same thing. But something called “litigation” got in the way…. Yes. We’ve had to change our name..

Anyway with this out of the way we do finally feel free.

Brother is Dead, Long Live VIVA BROTHER!

So, there you have it, the tale that will spread through folklore in years to come about this famous bands name change is in fact a lot more romantic than the actual reality. Pesky lawyers! I think we’ll stick to the folklore of the future…whatever that may be!
